Nurse Practitioners and Practice Nurses Annie and Kate are Nurse Prescribers, which means that they are highly trained nurses who can sign their own prescriptions. These nurses and our practice nurses, who are trained to manage minor illnesses, are very skilled and have the full support of our doctors to see patients who need to be seen immediately. They have access to the duty doctor at any time if this is necessary. Our Lead Nurse is Nurse Bev.  Many of our nurses specialise in particular areas of care. They can be seen by appointment with the Receptionist for wound dressings, injections, suture removal, blood tests, ear syringing and cervical smears. They work closely with GPs managing most chronic illnesses including hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, COPD and asthma for which they provide annual checks. They also provide continued contraceptive services, as well as health promotion checks, asthma care, audiometry, family planning, holiday health, travel advice and immunisation, weight reduction, flu injections and lifestyle advice.
